Ferrari Hydroplane, signed by F1 legends
The Arno XI is a hydroplane inspired by Achille Castoldi in the early 1950s and built by the Cantiere Timossi boatyard on the Lake Como. Castoldi persuaded Enzo Ferrari to supply him with a 4.5-litre, V12 Ferrari engine; the same engine that gave Ferrari his first Grand Prix victory with the Ferrari 375 F1 at Silverstone Circuit in 1951.
Castoldi managed to further increase horse power by attaching two superchargers. The result was a 502 bhp speedboat, which he used to hit a 150.19 mph top speed in October 1953 on Lake Iseo. That remains the world speed record for an 800 kg boat till today.
This large (95cm or 35 inches long) impressive accurate wooden replica is a stunning centrepiece to any collection. Each of our replicas is signed by slightly different Ferrari F1 legends, but always drivers associated with or World Champion for Ferrari. The model currently offered is signed by Ferrari legends, John Surtees, Kimi Raikkonen, Nigel Mansell and Jody Scheckter, discretely on the base plaque.
Serious offers enquiries are invited, this large model can be 'shipped' (pun intended) worldwide, but best collected from The Store due to the size and fragility of the replica.
