Alain Prost, four-time Formula One World Drivers' Champion, from 1987 until 2001 holder of the record for most Grand Prix victories. During the 1980s and early 1990s Prost formed a fierce sporting rivalry, mainly with Ayrton Senna but also Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell.

 

Prost went on a sabbatical year in 1992, reigning champion Nigel Mansell left Williams to race in the CART series, after hearing that Prost would be his teammate again in 1993. Prost won his fourth and final title in a year when he was regularly challenged by teammate Hill and by Ayrton Senna. On the podium in Adelaide in 1993, Prost's last race, he and Senna embraced.
